Camp amenities
Togtohbayar and his wife have hosted foreign guests before, and their experience shows in how smoothly the camp runs. They're known for a relaxed, trusting approach to hospitality — guests are told to simply let themselves in if the couple happens to be away, and the family checks in warmly on how their animals are doing even after guests have settled in. Two herder helpers assist with managing the herd day to day and are quick to share a cup of airag with new arrivals, though the real work — milking and morning chores — is handled by Togtohbayar and his wife themselves, starting at 5am and running until around 8. The ger stays warm year-round thanks to argal (dried dung) used for the fire, a traditional fuel that's been part of steppe life for generations.
