Bayarmaa is local to the area but spent years living in Ulaanbaatar before returning four years ago to take up herding and build a small guest camp of three gers. She runs the place herself, alongside her daughters and a few helpers who handle the evening milking together. The camp is unusually well organized for its remote location — a dedicated shower and toilet, a spot for wood-cutting, clear areas for herding and trash — all kept clean and running with quiet, generator-free 220V power. The gers themselves are simpler than most in the region: unpainted wood, a plain green toono, and a slightly colder feel than the classic painted interiors found elsewhere, though everything is spotless and clearly built for practicality over decoration. New arrivals are typically offered yogurt and firewood on arrival, and the camp sits with a striking view into a valley framed by high, triangular mountains that the family also uses as a winter base.
